Canadian low-cost airline Sunwing has reportedly declared a partnership with Wattpad, the worldwide entertainment firm supporting top social storytelling and original stories across multiple platforms, to organize a Canada-based writing contest.
The #MissedMilestones Writing Contest will be conducted from now up to August 24. The contest aims at curating a collection of personal stories from consumers featuring travel milestones and moments missed by them during the course of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The winner of this contest will get a fully-funded vacation for two people to the Royalton Punta Cana Resort & Casino and will be featured on Wattpad on the @Travel profile. Sunwing will also collaborate with Wattpad Brand Partnerships to transform the winning story into a short video or film.
The Chief Executive Officer at Sunwing, Samantha Taylor, apparently commented that the company’s collaboration with Wattpad marks the latest step in Sunwing’s marketing transformation.
She added that since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, the company has emphasized on elevating and refining the consumer experience and that accessing user-created content is crucial to the company’s marketing strategy.
By collaborating with Wattpad on the writing competition, Sunwing will be able to use the potential of storytelling to increase consumer engagement more relevantly & authentically and provide users a seamless journey under the company’s watch.
The collaboration is Sunwing’s newest venture into creating inspirational and relevant content. Wattpad houses some of the most creative and diverse writers across the world with a worldwide community of over 90 million people, which includes around 1.6 million Canadians.
Since the beginning of the pandemic, more people have shifted to online writing and reading as a medium of self-expression and escapism. Simultaneously, more Canadians are waiting for their dream vacation after being restricted at home for over a year, which has also resulted in the surging demand for Sunwing Airlines in recent months.
