Pacifico Energy K.K., a Japanese power plant development company, has reportedly announced the commencement of a solar power generation facility construction of 77-MW(DC). The company is a responsible project owner that advances projects from the early phase of development to construction, financing, and operation.

The Japanese company has started the construction of the new facility from December 2020, which will be located in Sayo-gun and Ako-gun. The plant is expected to be constructed mainly on a golf course. Additionally, Sharp Energy Solutions Corporation is the EPC contractor for this solar power generation project. The company currently holds extensive experience in this project role.

The commercial operation of the facility is likely to be started in 2023. Once commissioned, it will have the capacity to generate around 93 million-KW hours of electricity on an annual basis. This will contribute to over 500 thousand tons of reduction in CO2 emissions for nearly 19 years of an electricity supply period.

MUFG Bank financed the new project, with Baker McKenzie serving as the legal counsel to the solar energy project developer. In addition to the new plant, the company has started the construction of 14 solar power facilities across Japan with a capacity of 1,172-MW(DC) in total. Of these, 9 facilities have been completed and are presently in commercial operation.

Pacifico Energy will continue to construct, develop, and operate clean energy power facilities to promote a low-carbon society. This objective will be reached by leveraging its expertise and know-how that have been accumulated and refined via the construction, development, and asset management of the utility-scale solar power facilities. Moreover, the company has made a strong commitment to continuously support the use of renewable energy as a long-term, stable, and clean-power solution in Japan. It is also planning to collaborate with regional and local communities to ensure the development of a more sustainable world.
