Orange Jordan-Telecom Egypt ink collaboration to develop new CAB System

One of Egypt’s largest subsea cable operators and the region’s first integrated telecom operator, Telecom Egypt has reportedly signed a strategic collaboration agreement with Orange Group subsidiary, Orange Jordan. Through this partnership, the firms will work on developing a highly dependable terrestrial system to connect Iraq and Europe via Egyptian and Jordanian territories.

Commercially named Cairo Amman Baghdad System or CAB System, the new system will align with the strategies of both entities to expand their telecom and connectivity footprints across the Middle Eastern market in general, and the Iraqi market, in particular. The CAB System will leverage Telecom Egypt’s international assets, facilities, and reputation, alongside Orange Jordan’s diversified infrastructure.

The integration of the two operators’ advanced and sophisticated networks will deliver dependable, low latency internet connectivity services via diverse and robust routes to cater to the growing demand from the Iraqi market.

Telecom Egypt’s MD and CEO, Adel Hamed, commented on the deal, stating that the firm is pleased to collaborate with Orange Jordan and deliver this new solution, which will enrich the experience of Iraqi users, through a highly resilient and diverse route.

Orange Jordan’s CEO, Thierry Marigny, also spoke about the collaboration, claiming that the CAB System will be a game-changing solution for the creation of new routes for the Iraqi market. He added that by signing this strategic alliance with Telecom Egypt, the firm would be able to serve an ever-growing market with highly reliable and novel terrestrial routes that would seamlessly connect Europe and Iraq.

According to Marigny, the company has expressed pride in being part of the CAB System, which is expected to facilitate a high-speed, improved highway between Iraq and Europe, reinforcing its reputation as a responsible digital pioneer.

Once launched, the CAB System will become the most scalable, advanced express route and gateway linking Iraq and Europe, using the networks of the companies.
