ONE Esports, the esports arm of sports media company ONE Championship, has reportedly announced a long-term collaboration with electronics giant Samsung. Under the partnership, the electronics giant will develop a mobile app for ONE Esports that will be exclusively available on Samsung devices across Southeast Asia.

The app, slated to launch in the latter half of this year, will incorporate with ONE Esports’ website and also feature exclusive content for Samsung devices. The tech giant joins the impressive partnership portfolio of ONE Esports which includes Marriot Bonvoy, McDonald’s Philippines, and FWD.

Commenting on the deal, Carlos Alimurung, the Chief Executive Officer of ONE Esports expressed that esports and mobile devices are two of the most effective methods to reach and engage with the next generation to gain a competitive edge and Samsung clearly understands this brand requirement.

Alimurung added that the partnership will reinforce the surging penetration of gaming and mobile usage across Southeast Asia and provide mobile-first consumers the best possible way to consume esports content.

Alongside the app launch, the two companies will consort across a range of projects which include a mobile esports tournament.

Chris Tarr, the Head of Mobile Services & Partnerships for Southeast Asia and Oceania at Samsung, cited that the company is pleased to introduce the world of esports to its mobile users through this unprecedented collaboration.

Tarr also said that ONE Esports is distinctly placed as a premier esports media organization in Southeast Asia and added that the collaboration establishes a benchmark for combining the best mobile gaming devices with the best of esports experiences.

With this collaboration, ONE Esports continues its progress from last year. A partnership of this scale reinforces its position as one of the major organizations throughout Southeast Asia.

Recently, ONE Esports hosted the 2021 Mobile Legends Pro League Invitational (MPLI) tournament which registered a 140 percent rise in viewership from the previous year’s edition.
