Nokia, a telecommunications company, has reportedly entered a five-year strategic partnership deal with Ooredoo Group, a Qatar-based telecom company. This collaboration is geared towards bringing multiple services and technologies to customers across the Middle East, Southeast Asia, and North Africa. This multi-national agreement also includes the introduction of 5G services in these countries.
The latest partnership deal is built upon the global partnership of Nokia with Ooredoo. The Finland-based company reportedly revealed that the deployment of services is underway and is projected to be completed across all the countries by 2026. The company further announced its plan to deploy equipment from the latest AirScale RAN portfolio on multiple sites across Southeast Asia and North Africa. The deal also includes various digital deployment services that support faster time to market and technical support services.
Nokia has apparently cited that the company will offer its cloud-native Core software to give zero-touch automation capabilities to Ooredoo to help drive greater reliability and scale. The Qatar-based company, supported by Nokia Cloud Packet Core, Policy Controller, Registers, Voice Core, Signaling and Cloud Platform, can introduce network slicing to rapidly launch and grow new services spanning transportation, public safety, banking, smart cities, and health. The optical solutions and microwave transport of Nokia will also aid in facilitating network expansion and launching new services seamlessly.
As per the statement made by Aziz Aluthman Fakhroo, Ooredoo Group’s Managing Director, the recently renewed contract demonstrates the company’s growing partnership with Nokia to modernize and boost its network through the rollout of 4G and 5G services in Southeast Asia and North Africa. By leveraging Nokia’s advanced technology, its customers can experience faster speeds, bandwidth, as well as enhanced response times.
Pekka Lundmark, Nokia’s CEO and President, has seemingly cited that the company is thrilled to continuously deliver robust networks to Ooredoo’s customers under the five-year deal, as well as allow businesses to digitalize and innovate with new services. The transition to 5G will further drive radical transformation across public services, communities, and industries.
