Microsoft, a multinational technology company, is reportedly planning to retire the Windows 10 Home & Pro versions by 2025 and has unveiled plans to soon release its next-generation Windows 11.
The technology company, on the Windows lifecycle fact sheet, has revealed plans to drop its support for Windows 10 on Pro for Workstations, Pro Education, Pro, and Home by 14th October 2025. It is also targeting to support at least 1 Windows 10 semi-channel till this time period. This latest announcement implies the end of delivery of technical support for any software updates, issues, or security fixes post the given date. The updated timeline came amid plans to unveil its next-generation of Windows, with the official teaser of the same having recently been released.
Panos Panay and Satya Nadella, Microsoft’s Chief Product Officer & Chief Executive Officer respectively, will present the new experience at an upcoming What’s Next for Windows digital event to be held on 24th June 2021. The live stream will begin at 8:30 pm Indian Standard Time (11 am Eastern Time). The technology company has already sent out invitations to the media for its Windows digital event.
Mr. Nadella announced plans to share one of the crucial updates to Windows over the past decade at the recently-held Microsoft Build 2021 event, with an aim to provide high economic opportunity for the creators as well as developers. The technology company will create new opportunities for them by delivering an innovative & open platform to build, distribute, and monetize applications.
Sources familiar with the matter have reportedly stated that the upcoming Windows update will include major changes such as its significant visual enhancements. In addition, it will entail major UI changes to the operating system under a project, Sun Valley. This design update for Windows will also include enhanced visual capabilities.
