DaraPay, a leading mobile E-wallet and payment service provider, has reportedly announced a partnership with renowned payment and lifestyle platform Alipay. According to reports, this partnership would allow Chinese tourists to scan and pay with their Alipay account at all DaraPay merchants at more than 3000 outlets in Phnom Penh, Kampong Cham, Battambang province, Siem Reap and Kandal.
Reportedly, Alipay is operated by Ant Financial and serves more than 1.2 billion users with its regional partners. It is also the preferred payment option for many Chinese tourists.
Sources cite that DaraPay and Alipay, following this partnership, would integrate their respective system with one other to offer on-demand, flexible digital payment solutions through which Chinese tourists can easily make payments while their visit to Cambodia.
Moreover, Alipay users can make payments across the Kingdom without withdrawing cash or performing cross-app money transfer. Tourists can complete their digital payment by scanning the QR code at DaraPay-enabled merchant partners.
According to Phok Ratha, General Manager, DaraPay,€œthis partnership would allow Alipay users to benefit from the simplicity, convenience and security of their company’s integrated system and merchant partners during their vacation in Cambodia€.
Meanwhile, with DaraPay's more than 3,000 merchant partners, Chinese tourists could make a transaction at cafes, restaurants, supermarkets or payment for services like hotels, ride-hailing and entertainment.
This partnership will also offer benefits to the two parties in the future, as the number of Chinese tourists visiting the Kingdom continues to swell. Citing a reports, in 2018, China welcomed more than 1.7 million tourists, with numbers projected to reach 3 million by 2020 and 5 million by 2025.
Commenting on future plans, Ratha said that the company would collaborate with international partners to roll out innovative financial services to both local as well as international clients.
