  • As per the terms of the agreement, AMSC would be the exclusive supplier of electric control systems (ECS) for Inox’s wind turbines
  • The terms and conditions of the ECS would be spelt out in a separate supply agreement
American Superconductor (AMSC), the global energy solutions provider catering to the power grid and wind energy sector, has reportedly declared that it has signed an exclusive license deal with Inox Wind Limited for a 3 MW class wind turbine design in India. As per trusted sources, AMSC would be the exclusive supplier of electric control systems (ECS) for Inox’s wind turbines. Director of Inox Wind Limited, Devansh Jain was reportedly quoted saying that the firm was among the first producers to manufacture 2MW turbines locally in volume and swiftly carved out a leading position in the market based on cost and performance. Utilizing the company’s vertical approach, by integrating best-in-class manufacturing with project development, more efficient production of bigger 3MW class turbines would provide Inox Wind Limited the means to improve leadership position in the market. According to a press release issued by AMSC, the firm’s new class of turbine design needs to be certified as having a 3 MW power rating as per the GL2010 onshore regulations. The turbines might operate till 3.3 MW under certain ambient temperature and specific grid conditions. The Chief Executive Officer, President, and Chairman of AMSC, Daniel P. McGahn reportedly commented that the new license deal would prove to be the next phase in the company’s partnership with Inox Wind Limited. AMSC’s 3 MW turbine design broadens the Inox’s product range of 2 MW turbines to include 3 MW class turbines and opens up the prospect of market expansion, McGahn further added. Reportedly, the terms and conditions of the ECS would be spelt out in a separate ECS supply deal signed by both the firms.
