U.S. financial services corporation, American Express Co. (Amex) has recently announced plans to acquire renowned restaurant-reservation platform Resy to enhance its dining offerings. According to sources, the acquisition, expected to close over the summer, will allow Amex to grow beyond its traditional points loyalty program and offer value-added experiences, access, and services to its cardholders. Speaking on the move, Chris Cracchiolo, Senior VP, Global Loyalty & Benefits, American Express, said that Resy was created with an intent to connect food fanatics with new, notable and hard-to-get-in restaurants across the globe as well as to help restaurants enhance their business. He said that their company has strong ties with premium dining partners and restaurants across the globe, and offers card members access to incredible dining experiences through its exclusive benefits and programs. Cracchiolo added that Amex is looking forward to working with Resy’s team to continue to grow the digital platform, and develop new ways that further connect its card holders and restaurant partners through unique experiences. Resy Co-founder & CEO, Ben Leventhal said that the company has long admired American Express and has sought to partner with it since its inception. He claims that there are several synergy possibilities between Resy and American Express that the company is looking forward to pursuing together in the bid to create an end-to-end global dining platform that entices both restaurants and diners alike.
